v Background

Trillium is a certified golf instructor whose reputation is founded both on her solid knowledge of the swing and her simple yet effective communication style.  Combine that with a positive personality, she has distinguished herself as a truly effective teacher to all ages and ability levels. It is her belief that  successful golf is not only about technique, but also good course management, sound practice methods and a solid mental game - and this is what make her programs so successful.

By the age of eight, Trillium was swinging a club and and was soon after competing in junior tournaments.  Her love of all things athletic led her to excel in many sports*.  However, golf was always her first true love and it's no surprise that with her passion for golf and teaching she turned toward instruction.

She has taught over 1,600 hours of private instruction to a wide array of students, many of which return to see her year after year.   Although she is cut from the cloth as an instructor, she sees herself as both a coach and mentor, especially to the younger players.  In this way, she sees her students grow in all areas, not just technically.

When not training her own students, she enjoys investing time to improve her breadth of knowledge by taking lessons herself.  Her biggest influence has been Jim McLean, 1994 PGA Teacher of the Year who is mostly knowin for his extensive research and widly published system for improvement.  To compliment that perspective she's had quality time with varying figures in golf such as Marius Filmalter, Lynn Marriott, Pia Nilsson, Chris Toulson, Debbie Crews Ketterling, Ph.D,  Joseph Parent, Ph.D, Bob Toski, David Glenz and Carl Welty.

Trillium is based in Washington DC where she is the Teaching Professional at the Chevy Chase Club.  Her formal training is through the Jim McLean Golf School where she continues to teach during the winter months as a Master Instructor. She is a class A PGA member and is also certified through the LPGA through their coaching program as well as the Titleist Performance Institute in their golf fitness program.  Trillium is also a Top 50 US Kids Teacher.

Prior to the Chevy Chase Club she taught at Quail Valley Golf Club in Vero Beach, FL and Sleepy Hollow Country Club in Scarborough, NY.    She has made regular appearances as a golf analyst on several radio shows including Sirius XM PGA Tour Network, Making The Turn with Peter Kessler.   She attended Choate Rosemary Hall and Pitzer College, one of the Claremont Colleges, located in Los Angeles. In her spare time she enjoys reading.

*In college she chose lacrosse over golf and eventually captained her team both Junior and Senior year where she earned high scorer and most assists respectively. In 2000, she scored the winning goal in overtime putting her team into the final four against Stanford, UC Davis and UCLA. During her four years, she was named onto the North v. South Team four times, Southern California's National Team twice, and the USA West All-Star Team which toured Japan in 2000.
